10/28/2019 Christian Attitude To Leadership
If you are a leader, God has called you to an immense work. You are responsible for directing people, and those same people are looking to you as an example and holding you accountable for your actions. Let this reality both humble and fuel you.Thankfully, Christ has modeled leadership for you. His example can aid you as you pursue biblical leadership in your life and ministry. Here are six attitudes you, as a biblical leader, should exhibit as you move forward in serving God: 1. Be a Servant.Help others while serving alongside them.
Christ gave of Himself while He was leading people, and in doing so showed His followers that true leadership isn’t about having power over people. Remember that foot washing is focused on the feet of the one being served. It is a humble position that cannot be concerned about on-lookers or self.Have a sincere heart both for those you are ministering to as well as those ministering alongside you.2. Be a Visionary.Discerning where you want to end up while you are still at the start line is a valuable leadership trait. Maybe your “vision” for the ministry you lead has already been established for you by others in the church. Praise God for their ability to see the big picture and for their faith in you to lead others toward that end. Visionary leadership is essential for both quantitative as well as qualitative progress.

Innovation and foresight allow for growth, development and progress.Balance your ministry’s vision with a plan for each “next” step. Remember that God often only gives us light for the next step.Be open to listening to the ideas of others.Stay in alignment with your church or organization’s vision and with the Word of God. Stay connected and in communication with pastors, church leadership or those over you.3. Be a Teacher. To lead others the skills of a teacher are required to develop those being led. Jesus was a model teacher and challenged his followers to understand the work into which he was enlisting them.

If you are not a teacher, you do well to recognize and admit it, but now you need to enlist the giftedness of others to come alongside you in giving those you lead the instruction they need to best serve.Know your Bible. Before a difficult situation arises, study what the Bible has to say on “major” issues.Remain teachable as well. If questioned with something you cannot confidently answer, you can confidently say, “I do not know, but I know where to find it.” And dive into God’s Word. Through study and prayer pursue the answer.4. Be an Equipper.Similar to teaching, one who equips provides those she leads with resources necessary or helpful to accomplishing what needs to happen. In order to equip, the leader needs to possess visionary skills of discernment in order to perceive what will be needed.Research resources. Stay abreast of new technologies.Offer encouragement through follow-up, reminders, and check-ins/check-ups.Entrust others who are capable: delegate.Instruct and equip someone else to lead in your absence.
Keep someone aware of the details should you become unable to lead5. Be Compassionate.Second chances are needed for both those you lead as well as yourself. Recognizing this early and reminding yourself often will allow you to appreciate those who follow your lead as well as afford you room to both fail and succeed graciously. Offering those you lead motivation and edification will fuel them and create an environment where God’s will can be realized.Be a good communicator.
Communicate with integrity; be consistent in what you tell each person.Invite accountability both within those you lead as well as between yourself and at least one other person who can pray for and challenge you.6. Be Prayerful. This facet of leadership could have come first, and yet it is an overarching umbrella under which we do all aspects of life and biblical leadership. Enlist prayer partners for you and the ministry you have been privileged to lead. Pray first; before planning, directing, instructing, acting, teaching and talking.
Prayer reduces mental clutter and invites God’s presence and perspective to the work He has set before you.Leadership is a great privilege. It comes with responsibility, accountability, and great joy as you, with God’s help, propel others toward realizing God’s purposes. And remember, along the way, have some fun!Tagged:,.
INTRODUCTIONSome people are not happy that Donald Trump has been elected President of the United States and are displaying their displeasure by rioting in the streets. Additionally, some who hold public office have been very vocal about their difficulty in accepting this change in leadership.Always, the question believers should ask themselves is how would our Lord expect us to behave. Are these violent actions and disrespectful comments pleasing to Him?Looking to the Bible, Scripture gives examples of exemplary behavior in three godly, courageous, men of the Old Testament who stood their ground for God, and yet maintained respect for those in authority with whom they did not agree. This study draws parallels from three Old Testament believers who rose to leadership positions in government under different secular kings at different times.
It explores common characteristics in each that gave rise to their successful rise in governmental leadership.Joseph, Daniel, and Mordecai are Israelites who lived under foreign kings who did not share their values and whom they could easily have despised. Save the sovereignty of God, from a human standpoint, how did these men of principle — set aside by God and for God — attain such positions of influence?I see at least four common characteristics and two common results in the lives of these three uncommon men. Herein are parallel principles that you need to incorporate into your own life in order to become and to remain effective for God in office. There is much we can learn from the lives of these three remarkable OT leaders!
My prayer is that you will be contemplative, asking God to interact with your heart as you plumb the depths of His Word in and from the following passages. As we ponder a whole new day in America’s future there is concomitant responsibility for you to perform: This study will be a great aid to you in that quest.Read on and gain insights, my friend.II. THREE UNCOMMON MENWhat’s in common with three uncommon men? Joseph, Daniel, and Mordecai each rose from austerity to political prominence as sojourners in a foreign land. As a matter of fact, each became his host country’s second-in-command under a pagan king!
ELEVATION AND SUSTAINMENT IN LEADERSHIPIf ultimately The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes (Proverbs 21:1), and if the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, And bestows it on whom He wishes(Daniel 4:17), and if God. Moves to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His (2Chronicles 16:9a), then it follows that He alone is ultimately the one who determines who will or will not be elevated in this life — no one else can determine your destiny! Accordingly, wise is the Public Servant who puts him or herself in a place whereby God can choose to elevate and sustain him or her if He so desires.Unswerving courage in the manifestation of God’s Word is an uncommon characteristic today. Do you possess it? How many of these four characteristics characterize you? Are you respectful, loyal, insightful and unswerving?
Again, don’t be the last one without first being the first three! To do so is to be a noisy gong or a clanging symbol (1Cor. I have noticed over decades of ministry in Capitols that such individuals typically do not maintain office as long as they would like they lack the staying power that is requisite for being influential.
TWO COMMON RESULTSNow notice from these passages at least two recurring results in the lives of these men: A. PROMOTION BY THE KING1. JOSEPHGenesis 41:40 “You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you.”2. DANIELDaniel 2:46-49 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and did homage to Daniel, and gave orders to present to him an offering and fragrant incense.
The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you have been able to reveal this mystery.” Then the king promoted Daniel and gave himmany great gifts, and he made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. And Daniel made request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego over the administration of the province of Babylon, while Daniel was at the king’s court.3.
MORDECAIEsther 10:2-3 And all the accomplishments of his authority and strength, and the full account of the greatness of Mordecai to which the king advanced him, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Media and Persia? For Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews and in favor with his many kinsmen, one who sought the good of his people and one who spoke for the welfare of his whole nation. In our day and age, there is no biblical promise — that if one masters these four common characteristics herein — that he or she will rise to the number-two position in their government, or in our case will be chosen as the Vice President-Elect of the United States, a Cabinet post, or a leadership position in the House or Senate.
The four common characteristics are principles, not promises.HAVING SAID THAT, VICE PRESIDENT-ELECT MIKE PENCE SERVES AS A WONDERFUL MODERN-DAY ILLUSTRATION OF A JOSEPH, DANIEL, OR MORDECAI.For years Governor Pence has embodied these aforesaid biblical characteristics, and God has elevated him to the number-two position in our Government. But avoid viewing these principles as a formula to get to the top in your profession.
What God does promise His faithful ones is an imperishable crown in Heaven! May that prize consume our hearts more so than the perishable, temporary awards and accomplishments of this life. 1Peter 5:4 states to believers:And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. And who knows. Certainly it is my prayer that faithful and mature followers of Christ will lead not only America, but also many nations throughout the world! And such individuals only exist to the degree that others disciple them in the Word. PROTECTION BY A CONCERNED, EVER-WATCHING FATHER1. JOSEPHGenesis 50:20 “As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to preserve many people alive.”2.
DANIELDaniel 3:24-25 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, “Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?” They replied to the king, “Certainly, O king.” He said, “Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!”3.
